Bowbridge Homes Are Victorious While Raising Valuable Funds For The Mintridge Foundation - Minty's Marathon Months Part 2 with Charitable Travel & The Jubilee Sailing Trust: The Relay Success #444

The Mintridge Foundation once again teamed up with the fantastic team at Charitable Travel to bring everyone a challenge with another sensational prize. There was another team in our squad for this Challenge and that was the Jubilee Sailing Trust.

After the success of our Dubai Challenge earlier in the year, Minty was back with another exciting challenge to keep our mind and body moving. As Mental Health Awareness Week recently demonstrated, getting outside and active in nature has huge benefits for our wellbeing. According to the Mental Health Foundation, more than half of UK adults say that being close to nature improved their mental health.

Participants raised valuable funds (£564 in fact) for the Mintridge Foundation - a charity that harnesses the power of positive sporting role models and has been significantly impacted by the closure of schools. Valuable funds will enable us to reach more young people across the UK with our virtual and in person mentoring programmes.

This was achieved through the #444 Challenge. Mintridge supporters finding a squad of 4, picking a 4 week window in June and / or July and completing at least 4 marathons as a team mixing up how to travel the distance. SIMPLE! Participants walked, ran, supped and cycled their way to the target and we loved seeing the photos coming through as it was achieved! Thanks to our brilliant platform, Enthuse, we were able to link participants straight through to Strava (adding another Leaderboard for mileage too much to the competitive participants’ delight). Well done Katie Good – to say that you smashed the target would be an understatement: 168.6 miles! WOW!

We are delighted to say that the winning team of the Bowbridge 4 will receive 4 places on a day sail onboard tall ship, Tenacious in 2022, thanks to the wonderful generosity of the JST. As a valued partner of the Mintridge Foundation, we are delighted that Bowbridge Homes will come away victorious and we cannot wait to move forward with the planning! Here’s why the Bowbridge team decided to get involved.
This voyage is for people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities, giving everyone the opportunity to explore their potential through inclusive adventures at sea.
Tenacious, is the only sea-going tall ship in the world designed, built and sailed by a mixed-ability crew.
The day sail (08:30 - 17:30) will take place from one of the following locations:

London

Liverpool

Southampton

Bristol

Charitable Travel are also organising complimentary accommodation in a 3* hotel the night before sailing for our Bowbridge team.

Thank you very much to everyone that was involved with this challenge, as we come out the other side of the Covid Pandemic, we couldn’t have done it without the support of wonderful organisations like Charitable Travel and the Jubilee Sailing Trust. Here’s to lots of fun on Tenacious as we show that collaboration is key!

The Mintridge Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to enhancing life skills in young people through sport. We provide a support network for young people by harnessing the power of positive sporting role models. The Mintridge Foundation assists young people of all ages, abilities and physical capabilities to develop confidence and resilience, and creates awareness of the importance of mental and physical wellbeing through sport.

Our team of Ambassadors  - Olympians, Paralympians and other professional sports stars from over 20 sports, both team and individual - work with young people in schools, clubs and academies across the UK. Starting with visits including assemblies, coaching clinics and classroom sessions tailored to each organisation’s requirements, our ambassadors can then provide one- on- one remote mentoring in a safeguarded environment, delivered via technology such as Fitswarm and Playwaze to build a lasting legacy for individuals.

The Mintridge Foundation’s successes demonstrate the incredible power of sport; from a mentee’s selection to represent Great Britain in their chosen field to enabling disabled children to find confidence and happiness just through participation. Understanding life after sport, we also support our Ambassadors in their transition from active sport to the next stage of their careers.
