#THANKFULTHURSDAY Corporate Partners Nibble Protein- Proving exercise and nutrition do go hand-in-hand

As all of our ambassadors know, exercise is only part of what gets you to your physical peak. Alongside exercise comes nutrition and fuelling your body with what it needs to function at such high levels. The relationship between nutrition and sport is also what links Nibble Protein and the Mintridge Foundation.

Nibble Protein was founded by Erin Moroney and her need to increase her protein intake whilst training for a marathon. However, not wanting to live on chicken and almonds, needing something she can eat on the go but also not wanting to eat lots of sugary protein bars, she decided to make her own.

The rest, as they say, is history and her resulting protein bites, containing natural ingredients such as plum puree and toasted seeds, were soon joined by Nibble’s Brownies. Once again, Erin was inspired by a need in her personal circumstances. Namely, her fussy-eater niece who ate little protein but loved brownies. These brownies look like brownies, they taste like brownies, but are full of sneakily disguised natural plant protein and very little sugar.

They taste as good as they look!

Their products are low in sugar, high in protein, have a low glycaemic index (meaning that they give you slow release energy due to the time it takes your body to break the carbohydrates down into glucose), contain no allergens such as dairy, gluten or soy, are bite sized and are in resealable bags to make them ideal to snack on the go. We love them!

We’re not the only ones who love Nibble’s snacks. They have just been named as finalists for two World Food Innovation Awards (including ‘Best Healthy Snacking Innovation’), one of the longest running and most established awards in the industry. Our fingers will be firmly crossed for them when the winners are announced on 5th March 2020.

Working with young people in schools, we so often see the influences of social media, diet fads, nutritional misinformation and low self-esteem on what they eat or believe they should be eating. Our ambassadors certainly help to convey the message that food is fuel and that eating well is an important part of training and, with Nibble by our side as our Official Nutrition Partner, we feel we can help to hammer this message home using samples of their products to encourage healthier snacking.

Nibble offer their customers the opportunity to donate to us via them when using the code MINTRIDGE15 at the checkout when buying from Nibble online and their amazing CEO, Erin, is running the London Landmarks half marathon for the Mintridge Foundation. However, they have done so, so much more for us than money could ever buy. They have consistently and passionately shouted about the Mintridge Foundation from the rooftops, as they believe in what we do.

The smile says it all!

Erin nominated our founder, Alex Wallace, for the Sunday Times Sports Women of the Year Grassroots Award and… she won! Obviously, this was an incredible honour, but it has also helped Alex to spread the Mintridge message far and wide!

“Erin and Nibble Protein have been fantastic to work with, both on a professional and personal level.  It’s thanks to Erin that I won the Sunday Times award which has exposed the Mintridge Foundation to more corporate partners than ever before.” – Alex Wallace née Paske

The increased exposure has given Alex and the Mintridge Foundation more press coverage, more platforms to shout about what they do and access to a wider range of corporate partners to work alongside in order to continue to spread the message about the benefits of encouraging sport and physical activity in young people.

With yummy Nibble prizes for those who take part, visit our website to take part!

So, what’s next for Mintridge and Nibble? The future is looking very exciting for their partnership. Nibble continue to provide Mintridge with lots of Nibble free samples to take into schools to spread the word about good nutrition. They have also created a game featuring our very own Minty bear and are providing tasty prizes for those with top scores. Take part for yourself here.

A lot has come from Alex and Erin’s meeting at a Switch the Play networking event a short while ago, and we are confident that plenty more is yet to come.

If you would like to work alongside the Mintridge Foundation to champion a shared aim or objective or if you have opportunities within your business’ corporate social responsibility, we would love to hear from you.  Please contact Alex Wallace if you would like to discuss more at alex@mintridge.org.uk.
