Emmanuel Oyinbo-Coker was born with a disability which meant growing up he often felt out of place.
“I was someone who wouldn't allow my disability to define me, sport was the empowering factor that allowed me to express who I am.”
The confidence that sport gave Emmanuel and the everyday life skills he developed helped create a path to his success in athletics.

Emmanuel Oyinbo-Coker's breakthrough 2022 season was highlighted by Commonwealth Games glory in Birmingham. The Essex athlete stormed to victory in the T47 100m inside a packed Alexander Stadium, with scenes of him celebrating with friends and family some of the most memorable of the Games. This was to add to his gold in the men’s T47 100m at the World Para Athletics Grand Prix 2022, in Dubai.
Emmanuel went on to finish second in the SportsAid One-to-Watch awards in November 2022, cementing his place as a star to watch for the coming years.
T47 is for runners with movement affected at a low to moderate degree in one arm or the absence of limbs. They adjust for asymmetric upper body balance.
