THE SMITH SHIELD
The Smith Shield has been created by the Mintridge team to honour our former colleague, Katie Smith who left the Foundation in 2024. Katie’s zeal, passion, positivity and joy is quite simply irreplaceable and we wanted to ensure that her legacy lives on. We hope that this award will do just that. Each year, the shield will be presented to a Primary School Student that has been through one of our Mintridge Mentoring Programmes and has demonstrated zeal, passion, positivity and joy - they are our SMITHSTAR!

“I never thought anyone would be as ridiculously passionate about the wonderful world of Team Mintridge as me, and then along came Katie Smith. Katie is not just a colleague to me, she has become a dear, dear friend who I hold in the highest regard. Katie’s commitment, passion and knowledge has enabled Mintridge to go to the dizziest of heights, all while keeping us all VERY much in check. Katie has been integral to the Foundation’s success (even taking it global to Paris in its formative years). Her wealth of knowledge of the education sector, her ability to finish my sentences when I become too emotional and above all, the JOY that she has brought to so many lives is quite simply, irreplaceable.
