Minty thought, why should she stop at 10? So, the wonderful
bear that she is, she has put together another 10 great ways for you all to take on the challenges that social distancing is bringing and here they are:

1)     An Online Children’s Masterclass With
Paralympian, Laura Sugar

Here at the Mintridge Foundation, we are usually able to
take incredible athletes like Paralympian, Laura Sugar into
schools but here’s a way of bringing the inspiring role model into your home:

Put 50 minutes aside for:

1) Listening to Laura’s amazing journey (00:30 – 25:03)

family (20:09 – 50:09) – This activity session not only relates to athletics
but ALL sports and PE.

This is very much aimed towards children of primary school age,
it is accessible and available for the whole and best of all you can adapt
Laura’s challenges to make them easier or harder.

Minty would love to see your photos and videos, please send them
through to us.

3) Take on a virtual challenge!

Last week, Minty shared the exciting Local Landmarks Challenge with
you all. We have some great supporters that are taking on this amazing challenge to raise much needed funds for the Mintridge Foundation, we are so incredibly grateful. A challenge is what motivates so many of us and that is why we are so pleased to see an increased number appearing on our social media channels. Here are just a few:

a)      With our very own #28NOTOUT event potentially not being able to go ahead in its original format, we are encouraging  anyone, anywhere, in any part of the world to get involved with their own activity within the 28 hour period to raise funds (20:00 on 9th July through to 00:00 on 11th July). There is even talk of a danceathon – uhoh! Head to the link to find out how you can prepare and get involved!

b)     Big Cow Sports  are promoting 2km, 5km and 10km Virtual Runs.
90% of donations will go to the National Emergencies Trust Coronavirus appeal and there is even a leaderboard when you post your pictures and times!

c)      For anyone that wanted to climb Snowdonia or another summit, why don’t you head over to Rasselbock to see how they are
creating challenges on your stairs at home to still be able to push your limits in a safe way? This challenge is free to sign up and the website enables you to track your steps and see which mountains you have summited!

d)     With many of this year’s mass participation races cancelled including the London Marathon, many charities are likely to
suffer from a drop in donations. Run For Our Charities are therefore hosting a virtual run (complying to social distancing rules) to raise
some money for a few U.K. charities. Taking part is simple:

1. Donate a minimum of £5 at https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/RunForOurCharities

2. This Sunday, run your 5km or 10km race

3. Email a picture of your finish time to
runforourcharities@gmail.com to be added to the leaderboard!

4) This Girl Can & Disney Workouts

This Girl Can is all about celebrating women getting active,
no matter how they like to do it.  The team have partnered with Disney and real families across England to capture some of the ways mums and kids can get moving to the songs they love.  You can learn their moves or put your own spin on their routines.  At the end of the day, it’s about breaking a sweat while having a bit of fun and we love it. Head to the website to find out more: https://www.thisgirlcan.co.uk/activities/disney-workouts/

So whetheryou are more Moana or more Little Mermaid, give it a go! Tag @mintridgefdn in your videos on social media, Minty would love to see them!

5) Dice Sports

Dice Sports is the perfect companion for any young person during isolation at home.

All you need is a single dice, a purchase of this great game from Amazon / Amazon Smile and away you go with eleven great sports that can be played alone or with a family member.

This book is the perfect introduction to some of the best loved sports, offering background information, playing arena layout and positions.

There are introductions to some of the basic rules and regulations as well as helpful information on where to look to experience these sports first hand in the real world when “normality” resumes.

By playing the games in this book, it helps to inspire young people to try new sports, giving them an opportunity to experience some of the excitement of scoring goals, winning points, taking wickets, scoring tries, shooting a birdie or making a match winning break, wherever they are.

The exciting experiences of playing the games in this book, will inspire children to adopt an active and healthy lifestyle and promote a love of sport for a lifetime. What is not to love?

Who Is It For: 7 - 14 Year Olds

7)      “Be Your Best Self” Book

Yes, we know that we might be biased about how incredible this book is as the one and only Danielle Brown MBE (our amazing archery ambassador) is one of the authors, but when you
see its brilliance, we know that you will agree too!

Head over and purchase a copy of “Be Your Best
Self”
as now it is more important than ever to have that added motivation whilst at home.

Everyone’s dreams are very different and that is why we are all so unique but no matter what your GOALS are, the skills that you need are all the same and that is where this fantastic book can help you or your family members!

Looking after yourself is an important theme of the book whether that be eating healthy food and exercising, sleeping well or being kind to yourself. Is there a better time to be looking at these important topics?

ENJOY!

10)     Organise a Quiz Night!

Last but certainly by no means least, here is our current favourite at Mintridge HQ (and when we say HQ,we mean our respective living rooms) … To keep that competitive spirit alive, why don’t you embrace the technology that is making social distancing that little bit easier and organise a quiz night via Zoom or Skype
with your family and friends all over the world? If you need any help
with the sports round, you know where we are!

Take Care, Minty

The Mintridge Foundation is a registered charity dedicated
to enhancing life skills in young people through sport. We provide a support network for young people by harnessing the power of positive sporting role models. The Mintridge Foundation assists young people of all ages, abilities and physical capabilities to develop confidence and resilience, and creates
awareness of the importance of mental and physical wellbeing through sport.

Our team of Ambassadors  - Olympians, Paralympians and other professional sports stars from over 20 sports, both team and individual - work with young people in schools, clubs and academies across the UK. Starting with visits including assemblies, coaching clinics and classroom sessions tailored to each
organisation’s requirements, our ambassadors can then provide one- on- one remote mentoring in a safeguarded environment, delivered via technology such as Skype and Playwaze to build a lasting legacy for individuals.

The Mintridge Foundation’s successes demonstrate the incredible power of sport; from a mentee’s selection to represent Great Britain in their chosen field to enabling disabled children to find confidence and happiness just through participation. Understanding life after sport, we also support our Ambassadors
in their transition from active sport to the next stage of their careers.
