The Mintridge Foundation Joins The East Midlands Academy Trust for their Torch Relay & Ability Games

From Monday 10th - Thursday 13th June, pupils across East Midlands Academy Trust schools were joined by Mintridge Foundation Ambasssadors for the EMAT torch relay to promote sport and to aim high!

During the week, the EMAT torch travelled to each of the seven schools within the Trust where every pupil completed a mile by walking or running, clocking up a total of 5,000 miles – one mile for every pupil.

Well, that was fun!

Northampton International Academy was the perfect start to the Torch Relay.

Olympic Silver Medallist, Heather Fell OLY (Modern Pentathlon) felt privileged to be part of the excitement and kickstart proceedings as so many of the students took on a mile as part of their leg for the Trust!

Well done everyone!

Olympic Torches & Olympic Medals - Now that is what we call a TERRIFIC Tuesday! Thank you very much to Castle Academy for welcoming Heather Fell OLY  to your school too! Heather loved joining in with the course and we know she will have inspired the students with stories of her Olympic success!

The torch loved its journey throughout the trust and next up was Stimpson Avenue Academy – Heather loved this Torch Relay Stop with you all as you took on your mile run too!

Keep active, keep healthy and keep having fun!

If having your hands in the air to show that you were VERY happy to have Olympic Gold Medallist Shona McCallin MBE  lead your school's leg of the  Trust Torch Relay then we think these Orchard Academy photos show just that!

We love this initiative! Thank you for including us!

The Leg 5 Stop was with Shepherdswell Academy, Shona McCallin MBE loved her time with all of the students and had a LONG rest from all of the High Fives as she encouraged all of the children on their run - what an inspiration!

Thank you the Mintridge Foundation, you have been an integral part of the week long torch relay and Ability Games.

With Paris 2024 around the corner, Team Mintridge LOVES to see Olympic & Paralympic Medals in REAL life, oh yes we do!
We love it even more when our Ambassadors share them with our schools too and Prince William School was no exception.
Double Paralympic Gold Medallist Archer, Danielle Brown MBE made her way to Prince William School in Northamptonshire for the Penultimate Stop of the Relay and she had an incredible time empowering the students!

Last but certainly no means least was Hardingstone Academy and what a leg it was!

Thank you for welcoming Danielle Brown MBE - she had an incredible time!

There are good weeks and there are great weeks, and these two weeks fell into the latter because, we hadn’t finished yet!

We know that this kickstarted everyone’s energy ahead of their Olympic Day and Ability Games.

The Ability Games took place the following week on Wednesday 19th June which was a special event for their pupils with addition physical or communication needs at Castle Academy.

This fell in National School Sports Week – which is a celebration encouraging young people to get their 60 minutes a day of PE, sport and play. It is an initiative created by the Youth Sport Trust.

Paralympic Archery double gold medallist Danielle Brown MBE was back with the trust to support students on the day as the Guest of Hounour. The East Midlands Academy TrustAbility Games celebrates inclusion in the greatest possible way!

Danielle LOVED it. Roll on 2025…
