Mintridge & The Girls' Day School Trust United: Champions, Coaching & Confidence

Mintridge & The Girls' Day School Trust Unite: Champions, Coaching & Confidence
What happens when the Mintridge Foundation meets the Girls’ Day School Trust?
✨ Magic happens. ✨
Champions, Coaching & Confidence was the order of events on Valentine’s Day 2025 as over 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ Sport Scholars learnt and were coached by array of sporting superstars for the 4th Edition of the Mintridge Foundation & GDST Sport Scholar Day.
Thank you to our Ambassador squad for making it happen, to Sutton High School for hosting, to the teachers that travelled across the UK to get their students there, Miss Morrell from Blackheath High School for pulling the day together and to the pupils for bringing their absolute A GAME throughout the entire day. They soaked up the atmosphere and got as much out of the extraordinary athletes as they could - Being a role model is a reality whether a sportsperson wishes to accept it or not and that is why our Ambassadors are carefully chosen and they each have an unwavering belief in the Mintridge Foundation’s cause. They have a clear sense of purpose and responsibility to help the next generation so enjoy that and get the most out of it! The students took lots of photos, got lots of autographs, asked LOTS of questions and listened to their advice.
There was a mix of practical coaching sessions & classroom sessions but an overriding inspirational factor that we hope empowered all as they left for their half term breaks! The sessions showcased the importance of a balanced and fun lifestyle! Our Ambassadors passionately embrace the opportunity and responsibility of being a role model. In lots of cases, they are providing the mirror to others that they might have lacked themselves growing up. They can provide a route by which others can follow in the footsteps of. They might even be the trailblazer and want to ensure that they can make real change rather than just being the anomaly.
Jess Silva was the Hostess with the Mostess as the Event Host bringing all proceedings together for the day and she introduced the one and only Elizabeth Cann to lead the Keynote Speech around Pressure, Comfort Zones and Resilience before everyone made their way to a vast array of workshops:
YOGA / BOXING / SWIMMIMG / GYMNASTICS
RUGBY UNION / HOCKEY / ATHLETICS / BADMINTON
ARCHERY / CRICKET / NETBALL / FOOTBALL
“LIFE IN THE OLYMPIC VILLAGE” PRESENTATION / “WORKING IN THE SPORTS INDUSTRY” PANEL
Congratulations to Sophie D from Howell’s and Holly B from Notting Hill & Ealing who have been selected for a one-to-one remote mentoring programme with Iona Lake for six months. This is to offer continued support for student mental and physical fitness (delivered via safeguarded technology) and to ensure that a long, healthy and balanced relationship with sport is maintained. Directors of Sport from across the GDST each put forward two students that are truly deserving of this incredible opportunity and Sophie and Holly were announced as the final winners.
The day drew to a wonderful conclusion with a final panel. Everyone could hear from each of the athletes with Jess asking questions around training schedules, highlights of their careers & even touching on pay parity! We needed another hour to delve into it all.
Congratulations to Sophia - Rose from Blackheath High School on winning the Women’s Sports Quiz and to Izzy C from Sutton High School. Your prizes are on their way to you!
Thank you very much to Imperia Marketing for creating such incredible content from the day.
