“I was a young girl with a big dream and I did everything I could to achieve that dream!” - Eboni Usoro-Brown inspires the Litchfield Cathedral School students during their sports awards evening
Limitless Kit Bronze Sports Awards Programme for Lichfield Cathedral School with Eboni Usoro-Brown.
“Hopefully you will be stood where I am one day, sharing your goals and success stories with the next generation and inspiring others with the journey you took to get there!”
Thanks to the support from Limitless Kit, the staff, students and parents at Lichfield Cathedral School welcomed Eboni Usoro-Brown to their awards evening to celebrate their sporting achievements.
“I started exactly where you are now, a young girl with a big dream and I did everything I could to achieve that dream!”
Our Ambassador Eboni Usoro-Brown, recently retired England Netball player and Commonwealth Games gold medallist spent the evening inspiring the students and parents at Lichfield Cathedral School with her words of wisdom, as part of an amazing Bronze programme.
Throughout the evening, the students and parents learnt so much about Eboni’s journey to the top of the netball game and the top of her career as a lawyer. Eboni presented her story to help inspire the students to strive for their big aspirations and stick to the plan, even when they might experience some setbacks along the way.
This was an invaluable presentation for the students to hear, especially on an evening when they were celebrating their own individual and team successes.
As part of her presentation, Eboni shared how she managed her playing career and her academic studies and that you don’t need to choose between one or the other if you work hard and manage your time effectively.
The students and parents at Lichfield Cathedral School also used this opportunity with Eboni to ask her some key questions about her journey and to learn more about competing at the top.
Some of the best questions during the evening were:
When did you realise that netball was what you wanted to do?
When did you know you wanted to do law?
What was your diet like as an athlete?
What are your next goals?
Why did you choose to go to Bristol university?
What is the most memorable game you have ever played in?
Have you ever experienced any negative comments or negativity along the way?
“The best thing someone once told me was that opinions aren’t facts. When things are going well, everyone is your best friend and wants to be associated with you, but they are also the same people that are quick to make a negative comment when things aren’t going so well.”
When talking about the Commonwealth gold medal-winning moment, Eboni’s passion for the game and pride for that moment and personal journey were evident and very special for the audience to witness as part of their evening.
It was a wonderful evening for Team Mintridge, Eboni and the staff and students at Lichfield Cathedral School. The students and parents took a lot from their time with Eboni and we were so pleased we could celebrate this evening with them.
At the end of our night, the students took the opportunity to take some photos with Eboni and also asked her to sign their certificates, which was a lovely way to end the evening.
Good luck for the rest of your academic year Lichfield Cathedral School and we look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Thank you again to Limitless Kit, who supported this evening for the school.

The Mintridge Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to enhancing life skills in young people through sport. We provide a support network for young people by harnessing the power of positive sporting role models. The Mintridge Foundation assists young people of all ages, abilities and physical capabilities to develop confidence and resilience, and creates awareness of the importance of mental and physical wellbeing through sport.
Our team of Ambassadors - Olympians, Paralympians and other professional sports stars from over 20 sports, both team and individual - work with young people in schools, clubs and academies across the UK. Starting with visits including assemblies, coaching clinics and classroom sessions tailored to each organisation’s requirements, our ambassadors can then provide one- on- one remote mentoring in a safeguarded environment, delivered via technology such as Fitswarm and Playwaze to build a lasting legacy for individuals.
The Mintridge Foundation’s successes demonstrate the incredible power of sport; from a mentee’s selection to represent Great Britain in their chosen field to enabling disabled children to find confidence and happiness just through participation. Understanding life after sport, we also support our Ambassadors in their transition from active sport to the next stage of their careers.
