Studfall Junior Academy Sports Week 2024 with the Mintridge Foundation
Studfall Junior Academy threw the Sports Week of all Sports Weeks from 12th-14th June 2024…
…Welcoming not one, not two, but FIVE of our wonderful ambassadors over a three-day sporting extravaganza!
Former Junior GB Wheelchair Basketball Player, Jordan Jarrett-Bryan kicked things off with an inspirational day of wheelchair basketball for Year 5, and speaking to the whole school about his career in journalism as the Channel 4 Sports Reporter. The children loved spending time with Jordan, asking lots of insightful questions, and really engaging in the skills, races and games.
The following day, fomer Wimbledon Competitor Jade Windley and Deaflympian, Fil Kamps had the pleasure of presenting to the whole school, speaking about the highs and lows of their careers as professional athletes. Year 6 benefited from Jade’s incredible tennis skills, playing games, learning techniques, and getting the opportunity for some one-on-one time with Jade. Fil had Year 6 completely focused and engaged in deaf football. All of the children wore ear defenders and Fil led 90% of the session using only British Sign Language!
Last by certainly no means least to make their way to Studfall Junior Academy were our Golden Girls of Danielle Brown MBE (Double Paralympic Gold Medallist Archer & Eboni Usoro - Brown (Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Netballer who brought the Friday feeling energy with their motivational “I CAN” attitude as part of their aspirational encounter. This ended the week on a high with an assembly of overcoming setbacks before the Year 3 and 4 year groups had introductory sessions to the sports.
What a week - thank you for welcoming us!
